Todd's parents were in town. They left just a few hours ago. It was great having them here. Today we spent the day with them at Failaka Island. It's an island about 12 miles off the coast of Kuwait. We took a catamaran out to the island, walked around a bit, ate lunch. It was hot (low 90's) but we had fun looking around. But that's not the point of my blog today.
When we left the house I had dirty sticky floors, smudgy walls, stinky bathrooms, piled up laundry, etc. When we returned the floors and bathrooms were sparkling, laundry washed and ironed, walls cleaner (some smudges just don't come off once they're there), even my silverware drawer had been wiped out and organized. How we love Jesse.
She arrived just before we left for the day. If you'll remember, Jesse is our miracle worker--I mean maid--that comes once a week. I have been so blessed to have her the last 6 months. Because of her I've had time to do those things I've always wanted to do: not just read but study the scriptures, teach Nic and Red to read, learn to play the guitar, learn to speak Arabic, take my piano playing back up to a respectable level, spend more time with the kids, help them with homework, play and do puzzles with them, write in my journal, organize my photos, and the list goes on. Unfortunately, I have frittered away the extra time with sleeping, Spider Solitaire, and just general waste.
We only have Jesse for a couple more months so today I am committing to do some of those things I'd planned on doing.
I can't believe it's not butter!

Oh Catherine, You crack me up. I am so excited to see you have updated your blog! You deserve a maid, I am happy for you. Enjoy her while you can. I hate cats, that part would be hard for me. I hope all is well. Tell the kids and Todd hello. Love, Amber
Sounds like a great friend to have. Do you think Jesse would like living in SLC?

Hi Catherine and Cummings Clan,
I received your card in the mail recently and had to check out your blog! Wow! I was so excited to hear Todd (and your family) had finally gotten the chance to move to the Middle East. I suppose it's an understatement to say that you're all having an adventure! :) I'm not sure I'd even be able to cope with the driving part of it, much less all the other strange and unfamiliar goings-on there in Kuwait. Thank you thank you for sending that card! I'll be checking back often to see how you're doing! (I think I'll add a link on my blog, which you're welcome to check out if you're bored or otherwise have nothing to do...)
