NEW BLOG!

Now that we've left Egypt, I feel a need to record what we did there so when we look back on our time we'll remember it wasn't all homeschool and sleeping. I'll continue to post to this blog until I catch up to the time we left Cairo in June 2010. Our new blog will pick up from that time forward.

Proud Parent Moment

This is Petey in her school play, The Wizard of Oz. She played the part of the scarecrow. She was told she was the youngest one (7th grade) to ever get a lead role in the school play. She did a fantastic job and we were all very proud of her. She was happy with it except post-play when the Wizard was a little sweet on her and wouldn't leave her alone. He's in the 10th grade. People come from all over the world to this school and dates for admitting students to grades are different everywhere. So he told her "technically I'm supposed to be in 9th grade and technically you're supposed to be in 8th grade so we're really not that far apart in age." Well, I'm the mother and I will only accept that reasoning when they're in their mid-twenties or later. Fortunately, Petey was a little "creeped out" by the whole thing and life has now moved on.

So great! She must get it from her mother! Beautiful voice...even with the microphone malfunction. What a natural.

She was great! Brandon wants to be "famous" but we can't get him to try out for anything that puts him in the spotlight. Is she a natural or did you guys do anything to "help" her?

She "naturally" loves to do things like this. Love of being in the spotlight is something she inherited. But it wasn't from her mother. We've tried too with some of our other kids to try out for things like this but they aren't as interested. We have a couple others that are just waiting til they're a little older.
