NEW BLOG!

Now that we've left Egypt, I feel a need to record what we did there so when we look back on our time we'll remember it wasn't all homeschool and sleeping. I'll continue to post to this blog until I catch up to the time we left Cairo in June 2010. Our new blog will pick up from that time forward.

Petey's birthday

Petey celebrated her 14th birthday last week.

This picture is mostly to embarrass her as I'm sure when she sees it she'll exclaim, "Mom! Why did you put that picture on the blog!"

She wanted a fancy homemade cake with colorful decorations and fancy writing. Since I don't have that talent she decided to make her own. Unfortunately I think she's inherited my creative capabilities. Sidenote: it tasted delicious and every crumb of it was gone by the next day.

The day ended well with a family party and an Itunes gift certificate.

You mean you "haven't developed that talent yet".
I wouldn't recommend it either. I learned how to decorate cakes a few years ago. My kids thought is was great....I miss the "throw the cake mix in the pan, frost and maybe a sprinkle or two" cakes. Of course the older kids now prefer the regular cakes. Yeah! Way to go Petey....happy birthday.

Yes, Cindy. I think that's why I've chosen not to pursue cake decorating techniques. My kids will then expect elaborate cakes and I'm just not that interested in providing them with such joy. Too much work!
