NEW BLOG!

Now that we've left Egypt, I feel a need to record what we did there so when we look back on our time we'll remember it wasn't all homeschool and sleeping. I'll continue to post to this blog until I catch up to the time we left Cairo in June 2010. Our new blog will pick up from that time forward.

Here are some things I find interesting in the villa.

The first picture is of one of the windows taken from the outside. Over the window is a covering. The kids call it a "garage door for windows" because it looks and works very similar to a garage door. (By the way, I haven't seen a garage here in Kuwait. Everyone just has covered parking.) These window doors are great at keeping out the light. When they are fully shut you can't see anything past them. It can be the middle of the day but will appear as night when they're shut. Some of them have a switch on the inside and you just flip the switch to open and shut them. Others have a rod and handle that you turn (on the inside of the house) to work them.

This picture is of the guest bathroom. We have four bathrooms. Only this bathroom and one other have the second beday (sorry--no idea how to spell this one). The one in the other bathroom is more rectangular. When the kids first saw it they thought it was a special little bathtub for babies.

Notice also the sprayer on the wall--a very common thing here as well.
