Critter turned 12 on Nov. 13th. It was a great day.
The next day, on the 14th, he received the Aaronic Priesthood. He was called up front during Sacrament Meeting and in usual Critter style he didn't crack a smile or make eye contact with anyone.
Todd invited some members of the branch to participate in the ordination. One of those was an Aaronic Priesthood holder. So when Todd started he did it by the power of the Aaronic Priesthood. One of the members of the branch presidency stopped to correct him that it should be Melchezidek. Todd tried to quickly explain that it had to be Aaronic because someone in the circle only had the Aaronic priesthood. This branch member didn't understand Todd's quick explanation and so it was basically an "Aaronic." "No, Melchezidek." "No, Aaronic." "No, Melchezidek." conversation right in the middle of this ordination. It was resolved and the ordination continued. So that will be a memorable part of his ordination is the "disagreement" between adults during his ordination.
He passed the Sacrament for the first time Friday and did a great job. The only glitch was he was a little anxious and forgot about the tradition of waiting til the presiding authority takes the sacrament before passing to the congregation. It was only him and one other boy passing so it wasn't obvious. He actually did crack a smile when the sacrament was over and he sat back down with the family. He was proud of himself, as he should be. And we were proud of him.
