NEW BLOG!

Now that we've left Egypt, I feel a need to record what we did there so when we look back on our time we'll remember it wasn't all homeschool and sleeping. I'll continue to post to this blog until I catch up to the time we left Cairo in June 2010. Our new blog will pick up from that time forward.

Day One in Egypt

Sorry about my last post. I was writing through Email and when I email, I typically don't use proper spelling, grammar, punctuation etc.

Wednesday was Day 1 in Egypt. I woke up, ate breakfast at the hotel, walked here to the Skopos office in Cairo (about a 10-15 min. walk from our hotel) and hung out there from about 10 till about 2.  Then two of my dads co-workers opted to take me to the mall so
I wouldn't have to sit here being bored watching the scary movie "Twilight" over the internet. So the 3 of us ate lunch then went to the mall called "City Stars"

City Stars was a good, nice, huge mall that is connected to the InterContinental Hotel.  But it was sure expensive! I walked into Claire's (Note: The Claire's in the ME generally has a "cheapy" rack with earrings that are missing backings, or have been tried on, or clips, or hairstuff, etc) and went over to the 20 LE (Egyptian Currency) rack. 20 LE is roughly 4 Dollars! In Kuwait, or Jordan, the Claire's have 100 fill and above racks. I could get 10 pairs of earrings from Kuwait or Jordan than I could on the Claire's in Egypt rack.  Plus all the earrings (which is what I wanted) were like WAYYY HUGE.  So I went over to the "normal" prices rack and most of the earrings fell between 6-10 dollars. Amazing.

We left the mall, and came back to the hotel. My dad was still at the Office so I was texting him telling him like "I'm at the Hotel with Marilyn and Viv" etc. He tells us about this Cocktail party thing and we all go down.

He literally walked right behind us as we were at the Cocktail thing which was off of the Lobby/Enterance.  So I get a text saying, "Come up to the room" I was like, thats weird. So I texted him back "Are you here??"  "yeah, where are you?" "the cocktail thingie" "with whom?" "marilyn and viv" "okay, i'm coming down so look out for me" So after that we found him then we went to the Japanese place for dinner.

It was really cool. They made the food right in front of you.  Unfortanatley, I had been eating all day so I wasn't all that hungry.  So I ordered. Me and my dad shared food (it was a big portion and neither of us were very hungry). It was SO good. I just wish I could have eaten the whole thing as opposed to just maybe half of it.

So, we went back up to the room, started watching City of Ember over the internet, then went to sleep.

Here I am today, waiting for my flight to go back home to Jordan. Unfortunatley, it lands in Jordan at about 11:35 PM.  Plus time to get visa and home, I'm gonna be in my bed late!

More hopefully tomorrow about my today in Egypt

Really, it was a Christmas event at the hotel. They happened to be serving cocktails (alcohol is legal in Egypt). We however only had lemonade and peanuts. It was very nice with Christmas music playing in the background.
