WELL.... as ya'll (or at least most of ya) know IM IN EGYPT!!! now. here is a DETAILED version of my flight here.....
my dad was already in egypt, so i was flying to egypt by myself. . SCARY!!! anyway...i got up to the ticket booth, they were like (in arabic) " she's only 13!! she's too young. " blah blah blah.. etc. finally, the get someone to help me get to the gate.
i get to the gate and sit down. my mom had bought a new SIM card for an extra cell phone we had which i was to take so in case i got lost, or something happened, i would have a way to contact my family... so im trying to get the back off of the phone and its not working.. so the people in front of me are like "help?" i was like, yes, thank you. my face went SO red!!! so the guy in front of me got the back of the phone off. so then i was trying to get the sim card activated and when i called the number, the instructions were in ARABIC. so i just kept trying, entering the recharge number into the phone. and it still wasn't working!! so i was sitting there for like 5 mins trying to figure this stupid thing out and it still wasn't working. so the people in front of me were like, "help" yet again. and then finally, after 10 min. of working on it, they get it to work. so yea, i felt really stupid. this 13 year old girl trying to figure out how to put this dumb phone together, having the people in front of me figure it out. uhhhhhghgh....
so they call the people to cairo up, quinky dinkly the people who helped me were also going to cairo, so they said (in arabic) "stay/come with us" so i kindve stayed behind them.. then i get up to the actual gate... and the people are like "sit down for a minute please" then their conversing in arabic saying "she's only 13!" "are you sure?" "95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 2000, 01, 02, 03,04,05,06,07,08" using fingers in the process. "yea, 13" then to me they said, can i have your passport," so i give it to them and they took it then people started boarding i was like, CRAP!! i have to get on the plane and go! but like 10 min. later, they were like who is meeting you in cairo? i said, my dad. so then they arranged for someone to meet me as soon as i got off the bus from the plane. more about that aspect later.. so i get my passport back and i go to board the plane.
again, im a 13 year old girl travelling alone for the first time. ive never had to worry about anything. my visa, luggage, flight, thats all been taken care for me before. so i didn't realize that my suitcase was supposed to be checked at the gate. so im walking on the plane, past 1st and business class, longing for one of those big, comfy seats, cuz im soooo tired. come on! its 8PM!! im tired! especially after having the day i had. so i walk back into the economy section and then one of the flight attendants, was like, "you were supposed to check that at the gate." i was like, oops, sorry. so i try to take it back, but hes' like, here i'll do it for you. so he does
so i go back and find my seat in economy and i lay my head on my hand, then the same flight attendant (it was a guy) that took my bag, the second i put my head on my hand he was like, "excuse me?" i was like i didn't do itt!! but i said "what"? he said, "are you travelling alone?" i was like "yeahhh..." he's like "will you come with me for a second?" i was like oh great. here we go again. we stop at the first/ business class and he's like, pointing to an empty seat, "would you sit here please?" i was like SWEET!!! I GOT BUMPED UP TO FIRST CLASS!!!!! and we only payed for a seat in economy.!! so i enjoy my first class seat flying to egypt.
i got off the plane and the guy my dad arranged from the hotel to pick me up was there.. i only saw 1 guy with a sign with my name which was the hotel guy, so i went with him. he got my visa, helped me get my luggage . then handed me off to another guy who was to take me to the bus which would take me to the hotel. when i got to the hotel, like 5 employees were waiting for me. but no one i recognized! but then my dads coworker/ friend arfan walked out with my dad on his heels.
so my highlights so far, getting bumped up to first class
more l8r!

Clara,
You have a very exciting life! Do you know that I have never traveled anywhere alone? Not even to Smith's for milk let alone to another country! Lucky, lucky you! Enjoy every minute,
love,
Sister Ferguson
